Top-Ranked Academic Boarding School in Maine
Gould Academy is a top boarding school in New England. The value of a Gould education is measured not only in college preparedness, but also in the development of resilient, thoughtful, and well-rounded individuals.
Residential Life makes up a key part of a Gould student’s experience away from home. Students and faculty share the dorms with a faculty resident and at least one selected peer proctor on each floor. Dorm rooms are where students study and relax, while common areas provide social gathering spaces to share pizza and watch a game, a debate, or a movie.

Gould is all about snow. 80% of Gould students are outside playing snow sports in the winter, from FIS/World Cup level skiing and snowboarding, to Freeride that plays all over the mountain, from our unique Ski Patrol program, to learning to ski or snowboard. Gould’s very own ski and snowboard lodge, the Kailey Competition Center, is located just six miles from campus at the base of Sunday River Resort. Gould knows snow!
Student Life at Gould
“Gould Academy gives students the skills and abilities they need in order to thrive in college, such as making connections with teachers, having a harder, heavier work load, and also living on a residential campus. I've loved my experience here, and I would recommend Gould to everyone. The teachers are kind and will always listen to feedback, the classes are challenging and interesting, and you'll make relationships with peers and teachers that will stay with you for a long time.”

Gould is passionate about developing academically motivated students that are well prepared for college and beyond. Our thoughtfully designed curriculum and dedicated faculty help guide and support students to become independent-minded, ethical citizens who will lead lives of purpose, action, excellence, and compassion in a dynamic world.
At Gould, we understand education is about the journey, and believe that the development of the whole student requires exposure to a diverse array of academics, athletics, arts, community life, and the natural world. One student at a time, we help guide each to recognize their fullest potential and become the very best version of themselves.
Our Snow Sports Program
Student Life at Gould isn’t all about academics, athletics, on-snow programs, or even the arts (although we excel in providing exceptional experiences in all of those areas), it’s about friendship, mentorship, and being a part of a community. We recognize that you have your own unique interests and curiosities. Gould provides a balanced experience that includes belonging to a community that will challenge and support you, and having direct access to programs, traditions, and everyday life experiences that shape who you are as an individual and as a community member.
